| SPARRING RULES |
Black Belts:
Sparring 2 minutes or 7 points. Kicks are 2 points and hand
techniques are 1 point. No groin contact, no ground fighting.
Color Belts: 2 minutes or 5 points whichever comes first.
Unified (TPA). The difference between Black Belts & Color Belts is
that the groin is open and kicks to the groin are 1 point. 2 points
for kicks above the waist. Light headgear contact is allowed for all

| SEEDING |
Black Belts will go by the 2007 year end NASKA ratings
(World & National) for seeding (the top 4 for form & weapon, the top 4 for
sparring) as per NASKA guidelines.

DISQUALIFICATION |
Any display of unsportsmanlike conduct, disrespect to
officials or staff of COMPETE from competitors, parents or spectators will
result in immediate disqualification and ejection from the Arena.

| ADULT SPARRING
COMPETITORS |
All adult sparring competitors, Black Belt and Color
Belts, must weigh in at the time of registration. A scale will be
available and the same scale must be used by all competitors.

| PAIRS FORMS |
2 person Black Belts Form or Weapon. Time limit is
3 minutes. Music is optional. Friday 6:30pm. First Place
Pair wins $200

| TEAM DEMO |
3 or more members, Black Belts, Friday 6:30pm.
Music is optional. Time limit is 4 minutes.

| SYNCHRONIZED
FORMS |
2 to 5 person teams. Open Hand forms or weapons.
Time limit is 3 minutes. All team members must perform the same
routine. Black Belts All Ages Friday 6:30pm. First place team wins
$200. Color Belts Saturday 10:00am

| MUSICAL
DIVISIONS |
Each competitor will be responsible for his/her own music
and sound system ato play his/her music. Sound system will not be
provided by COMPETE. Battery powered sound systems only. No
electricity will be provided or allowed. Make sure that your
music is on a tape or CD because if you perform in the finals or on stage,
COMPETE's sound system is equipped for cassette tape or CD only.
Music will be allowed ONLY in designated Musical divisions.
Music will be allowed in the COMPETE Gold Star Finals.

| MUSICAL WEAPON |
1 person Musical Weapon. Time limit is 3 minutes.
Black Belts, Friday 6:30pm. Color Belts, Saturday 11:30am.

| SHOWMANSHIP |
Color Belts 2 or more people with or without music.
Open hand or Weapon may be used. Time limit is 3 minutes. Ten
Places will be given. Saturday 10:00am.

| MUSICAL FORM |
Color Belts. 1 person. Time limit is 3
minutes. Ten places will be given. Saturday 11:00am.
Black Belts, Friday 6:30pm.

| SELF DEFENSE |
| 3 required techniques - 1 punch, 1 grab and 1 kick -
slow, then street speed. (May be performed with each technique
individually at both speeds or all 3 together slow motion then at street
speed, with the option of two more techniques). Weapons may be used
and you may use a weapon that has been disarmed from an attacker.
Time limit is 5 minutes. No more than 5 attackers. Competitors
will be judged on execution, effectiveness, practicality and overall
presentation. Only the individual performing the techniques will be
judged. Competitors may perform all three techniques simultaneously
or each technique one at a time. Street attackers may be anyone who
has paid his/her way into the tournament as a spectator or a competitor.
Only the individual being judged is required to pay a competitor's entry
fee. Although props are acceptable, no music is allowed.
International Kenpo Rules. Black Belts all ages Friday 6:30pm.
Color Belts, Saturday 10:00am. 10
places awarded.

| SAFETY
EQUIPMENT |
See UTK Rule Book for complete safety equipment rules.
Foam dipped hand pads, foot pads and headgear, mouth piece and groin
protection (for males) are MANDATORY for all sparring competitors.
Chest protectors and face guards are MANDATORY for all 17 & under sparring competitors
including junior black belts.

| BREAKING |
The breaking divisions will start at approximately
2:30pm. Each competitor is responsible for cleaning up all of his
used and unused bricks. Results will be announced after all the
bricks are cleaned up. We would like for this to be an exciting
event for the spectator to watch so be on time and be professional in your
preparation and execution of your breaking.

| COLOR BELT
TEAM SPARRING |
| In the Kids Color Belt team sparring divisions TS-4,
TS-5, there must be at least four teams in each division for trophies AND
Gift Certificate to be awarded. In the case that there are not four
teams, first place winners will win trophies. TS-6 Adult Men Brown & under 18 & over. Team cannot be
all Brown Belts. Four teams required for prize money to be given. |
| VERIFICATION
OF AGE |
| All competitors 17 years old and younger must provide
with their application or carry on their person, verification of age
(example: birth certificate, driver's license, state ID). This
verification of age must be presented upon request to any COMPETE staff
member. Please note if your child is big or small for his/her age -
bring your child's birth certificate with you or send a copy with your
application.
Age Rule:
For COMPETE 2008, you compete at the age you are on the day of
competition. |
